The app

A small window that stays out of the way.

Voxy sits in the menu bar and does one job well. Open the window when you want to see how you are doing, or teach it a word it keeps getting wrong.

  • Dictate Right ⌥ on a Mac Right Ctrl on Windows
  • Open the window From the menu bar, or a shortcut you pick — Ctrl + ⌥ + W is a good one

Both are yours to change in Settings. Pick any key you do not already use.

Dictate anywhere

One key. Every text box you use.

Hold the key, say your sentence, let go. A small pill shows you that Voxy is listening, then the text is typed where your cursor already was. Nothing to open, nothing to copy and paste.

Built for code

It knows what you mean by npm.

Voxy sees which app you are in. In one of 16 editors and terminals it changes how it writes: no sentence case where you did not ask for it, symbols spelled out as symbols, and a vocabulary that already holds the words developers actually say.

  • Code mode turns on by itself in editors and terminals.
  • Function names, flags and file paths come out as you said them.

Words you use often

Teach it once, and it stops guessing.

Names, product words and acronyms only need correcting once. Longer things you say every day get a short phrase instead.

  • Vocabulary — the words it must always get right.
  • Phrases — say a few words, get a whole paragraph.
  • Styles — a tone for email, and another for notes.

This is not a promise about how we handle your recordings. There are no recordings to handle — the model runs on your machine, so the audio has nowhere else to go.
