Requirements
What it needs — Mac
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- Apple silicon or Intel. One disk image covers both. On Apple silicon the speech model runs on the Neural Engine; on Intel it runs on the graphics card instead.
- 8 GB of memory. More is better if you turn on AI cleanup — Voxy never lets that model take more than a third of your RAM.
- About 1 GB of disk for the app and the speech model, which downloads the first time you dictate. AI cleanup is optional and needs roughly 5 GB more.
- Two permissions: the microphone, and Accessibility so Voxy can type into other apps. It asks for both on first run and shows you where to grant them.
No internet is needed to dictate. Voxy only goes online to check your licence and to look for a new version.
Windows
The Windows build is not out yet. It is being built to the same shape as the Mac one, and these are the requirements it is being built against:
- Windows 11, 64-bit — both Intel/AMD and ARM machines.
- No graphics card needed. The speech model is the same one the Mac runs and it is fast on the processor alone; a GPU or NPU only makes it quicker.
- 8 GB of memory and about 1 GB of disk, the same as the Mac.
Your licence covers both, so buying now costs nothing extra when Windows lands. If you want to hear the day it does, email info@voxyapp.org and we will tell you.
